WHAT WE TRANSLATE

The Indonesian Police Record (Surat Keterangan Catatan Kepolisian (SKCK))

Indonesia's police clearance is the SKCK, Surat Keterangan Catatan Kepolisian, issued by POLRI (the Indonesian National Police). The issuing level matters: a Polres (district) or Polda (provincial) SKCK serves domestic needs, but for immigration and overseas use applicants generally need one from Mabes Polri, the national headquarters, whose SKCK includes a fingerprint (sidik jari) record. The certificate is valid for only six months from issuance and states, in Indonesian, that the holder has no criminal record, along with the stated purpose (keperluan) and often a QR verification code. A certified USCIS translation must reproduce the exact 'no record' wording, the issuing unit, the issue and expiry dates, and the purpose line, so that reviewers do not treat a still-valid clearance as expired or as the wrong type. Because SKCKs expire quickly, the date must be translated precisely and the document filed promptly. Preserve the applicant's name exactly, including any mononym. Translation HelpDesk certifies the SKCK to 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3) within 24 to 48 hours.

WHO ISSUES IT

Where Your Indonesian Police Record Comes From

Indonesian police and criminal-record certificates are issued by the national or state police and justice authorities described above — not the civil registry. Indonesia joined the Hague Apostille Convention (in force since 4 June 2022), so a single apostille now replaces embassy legalization. Full Indonesia apostille & authentication guidance →

USCIS REQUIREMENTS

How USCIS Wants Your Indonesian Police Record Translated

For your Indonesian police record, USCIS requires a complete English translation of everything on the page — the issuing office’s details, seals, and any marginal notes included — plus a signed certification of accuracy under 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3). Machine translation cannot sign that certification. We reproduce the document's exact layout so an officer can compare it line by line against your Indonesian original.

WATCH OUT FOR

Common Indonesian Police Record Pitfalls

Indonesian police and criminal-record certificates must show exact coverage dates and the issuing authority, and because they often expire quickly, the translation should be scheduled close to your filing date.

Native Indonesian Specialist

A native speaker of your document's language handles it — not a generalist or a machine.
