Since July 2025 the JCE rolled out a single national formato unico (Resolucion 09-2025) with a QR verification code and Libro, Folio, and Acta numbers; older records are handwritten book copies stamped by the Oficial del Estado Civil. For translation, every marginal annotation, the registry references (Libro/Folio/Acta), and the Oficial's certification block must be rendered in English and kept in position so an adjudicator can match the layout line by line.
