Older and rural marriages frequently have only the handwritten Nikah Nama, whose every column — including struck-through or blank fields — must be fully translated for an I-130 spousal petition; officers specifically check the mehr columns and the delegated-divorce (talaq-e-tafweez) conditions. On the MRC, the English side is not enough: the Urdu seal, registrar's signature block, and any Urdu remarks still need certified translation.
