WHAT WE TRANSLATE

The Turkish Police Record (Adli Sicil Belgesi)

Turkey's police-clearance document is the "Adli Sicil Belgesi" (criminal-record certificate), maintained by the Adli Sicil ve İstatistik Genel Müdürlüğü (General Directorate of Criminal Records and Statistics) under the Adalet Bakanlığı (Ministry of Justice). It is pulled in seconds from e-Devlet or issued at the courthouse (Adliye) or Cumhuriyet Başsavcılığı. Crucially there are two versions: the "Adli Sicil Kaydı" (current convictions) and the "Adli Sicil Arşiv Kaydı" (archive record, showing served or expunged entries) — USCIS and consular officers generally want the arşiv kaydı, so confirm which the applicant obtained. A clean record prints "Adli sicil kaydı bulunmamaktadır" (no record found), which must be translated exactly. The document carries a barcode/verification code and, on request, e-Apostil. Although Turkey can issue it in several foreign languages, USCIS wants a certified English translation of the Turkish original with all seals, the purpose (talep sebebi) line, and the T.C. Kimlik No preserved. Match the name spelling to the passport to head off mismatch RFEs.

WHO ISSUES IT

Where Your Turkish Police Record Comes From

Turkish police and criminal-record certificates are issued by the national or state police and justice authorities described above — not the civil registry. Turkey has been a party to the Hague Apostille Convention since 1985, so its documents receive an apostille rather than embassy legalization. Full Turkey apostille & authentication guidance →

USCIS REQUIREMENTS

How USCIS Wants Your Turkish Police Record Translated

For your Turkish police record, USCIS requires a complete English translation of everything on the page — the issuing office’s details, seals, and any marginal notes included — plus a signed certification of accuracy under 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3). Machine translation cannot sign that certification. We reproduce the document's exact layout so an officer can compare it line by line against your Turkish original.

WATCH OUT FOR

Common Turkish Police Record Pitfalls

Turkish police and criminal-record certificates must show exact coverage dates and the issuing authority, and because they often expire quickly, the translation should be scheduled close to your filing date.

Native Turkish Specialist

A native speaker of your document's language handles it — not a generalist or a machine.

Format-Matched to the Original

USCIS Acceptance Guaranteed

If USCIS rejects it citing the translation, we fix it free and cover your resubmission fee.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Turkish police record translation cost?

A standard Turkish police record is typically $15-25 total, certified and formatted, delivered in 24-48 hours. Pricing is $0.05 per word; longer or multi-page documents are quoted exactly before you pay.

Is your Turkish police record translation accepted by USCIS?

Yes. Every translation includes a signed Certificate of Accuracy meeting 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3). If USCIS rejects it citing the translation, we correct it free and reimburse your resubmission fee.

My Turkish name has letters like ş, ğ and ı. How do you handle them so nothing gets rejected?

We transliterate every Turkish special character (ç, ğ, ı, İ, ö, ş, ü) and, most importantly, spell your name to match your passport exactly, because a mismatch between the translation and your travel document is a common cause of RFEs. If your registry record and passport already differ, tell us and we translate faithfully while flagging the discrepancy in a translator's note.
